Tanning oil

Commercial photography sometimes just becomes a great pleasure to do. Although I do many different types of product photography, creative photography is my favourite. It is great to come up with something in your mind and convert it into a photo.
The little problem with this was that my back was against the wall and it had to be done in a rush.
Normally if you try to rush you end up in a mess, that it will not work or not a very tidy shot.

I would like to thank all the people at Tanorganics for the opportunity to let my creative side out and they were just great people to work with.
The other side of these shots were my photo got to show on the front of Iberia Airways magazine.

Product photographer award

This I am really starting to like, over the past few years I have been entering the International Color Awards competition and have received 2 nominations for them, I was really pleased with that.
This year I received a nomination for a raging water shot in the category of nature and a winners one in the still life section, now I am rocking.
It is really nice to be recognised for all the hard work that goes into product photography as most people do not realise how involved it can get.

Breaking glass

Hi all
A product photographers job can sometimes be exiting. I was asked to photograph some high quality drinking glasses. So I thought yeh no problem. Famous last words LOL.
The glasses I have to admit were beautiful not showing flaws in the glass and crystal clear. I thought to myself this is nice to have a product that requires no extra work e.g. relabelling, removing scratches in photoshop, only a wipe to clean them etc.
Then I stated to work on them, trust me it was not straight forward, because when I received the glass they were not clear glass but patterned with paint. This started to get complicated. Now the thing is with me I have to get them right, I will not rest until they look right straight out of the camera as sometimes to much photoshop can look fake.
Now comes the best bit, the client wanted something that people would stop and look at if it was on a poster. So no messing out come all the protective gear and a smashing time was had 🙂 The only thing i can say is. This was fun, but the cleaning up of the mess took 2 hours afterwards. Ahh well can’t win them all.

Perfume Superdry

Perfume Superdry !!!
There any many ways of taking a product shot. The most popular way is for sales on websites, EBay and Amazon, these are pretty straight forward as there is not a lot of creativity as it is a white background.

Or you can go for something that is a little more creative and make it stand out amongst all the other images that are the same or similar products on the web.

Images that are creative will definitely increase selling price and sales as it is normally telling a story as the one above is saying that the fragrance is oozing out of the bottle and would smell amazing.
The difference in cost to take creative shots is more but commands a different audience.
If you click on the images to see the larger view you can see the difference in the finished quality of the shot. Although if you were only selling on the web you may not wish to go this far.
Which ever way you would like your product photography I can accommodate you, Just give me a call.

New Pentax

  • CMOS Sensor 51.4 MP (43.8×32.8mm)
  • New AF module with 27 AF Points

Now this does look  like some thing that could take pictures with enough pixels to last a lifetime. I wonder what comes next.

Personally I thought the megapixel war was over, I mean, how many do you need. If you were taking photo’s for a web site 6 megapixel is great and will do very good images, but 51 megapixel is just massive and most people would not have a use for it. Having said that I wouldn’t mind having a play with it just to see what it could do, so mr Pentax if you want another independent test on this amazing camera just send one here and I will put it through the product photography initiation. Can it really do better than my Canon or my Hasselblad.
